Amber – Assistant

Tricia (she/her) began at Harmony in January of 2014. She first learned about Montessori through a chance conversation with a stranger. The philosophy resonated with her and she wanted to learn more. When she enrolled at Marylhurst University she heard about a collaborative degree program with the local Montessori training program and decided it was meant to be! Tricia graduated with a degree in Human Studies and received her AMI Primary diploma from Montessori Northwest. She has been working as a lead guide since the completion of her Montessori training and feels honored to share in the joyful discoveries of the children. She loves and appreciates the collaborative vibe at Harmony and the commitment to anti-bias anti-racist practices and learning environments. Tricia spends her free time volunteering with a local dog rescue, tackling a yard full of projects and loving on her family including her husband Matt, kiddo, Roman and their three rescue pups.

“It is such an honor to be a part of this vibrant community and witness the discoveries of the children and their joyful journey towards independence.”     -Tricia

Erin (she/her) is joining the Harmony community in August of 2023 as the Lake Room Co-Guide. Erin has led two Primary classrooms previously and is looking forward to Co-Guiding with Tricia in the Lake Room. Erin learned about Montessori through her studies in Early Childhood Education. She was instantly drawn to Dr. Montessori’s approach and was inspired to learn more. Erin loves how Dr. Montessori focused on the child; respect and love being the center of this. Also, the individual approach to learning. Every child is unique and should be guided in a manner that is as well. Erin has a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Marylhurst University. The pull she felt from Montessori led her to pursue her AMS Primary Diploma from MOATEP. Some areas within the Environment that Erin is especially drawn to is Mathematics and Practical Life. In her free time Erin loves to spend time with her six-year-old son, bake delicious treats, write, and check
out different farmers markets. Erin was recently gifted a ukulele and is practicing this so that she can bring it to the Lake room to play with the children. Erin is grateful to be joining the Harmony community and is looking forward to collaborating with families so that your children can all have beautiful experiences in the Lake Room!

Amber (she/her) – Bio Coming Soon

Luz (she/her/ella) – Luz has joined Harmony as a classroom assistant in the summer of 2023.  She is originally from Mexico, Origen Latino. She has received a degree in pedagogy, a science that studies education in its entirety, knowing the human being as well as the institutions, models, techniques and theories, to provide educational teaching-learning solutions. By studying this science, she has acquired knowledge about human development as well as its environment and its influence on learning. She also acquired knowledge about educational institutions and their administration, and educational plans and programs, always working side by side with other sciences. Luz is interested in neuroscience, which is why early childhood education is highly relevant.  She believes that if an infant is provided with adequate guidance, their personal-physical-emotional-academic development will be highly elevated. She is interested in the pedagogical model designed by Dr. Montessori, for her respect for the development and independence of each child. For Luz, the teaching-learning process fascinating, and the achievements she has seen using this method are incredible. In her free time, she enjoys my time reading I like knowledge readings in psychology, education and neuroscience, cultural diversity interests, and walking outdoors in nature.  Additionally she is a volunteer at the Multnomah library helping adults obtain their GED.
