Enrollment Process

Schedule a Tour!

The first step for enrollment is to schedule a tour! Follow this link to fill out our Contact Form to schedule.  Periodically Harmony will host open house events to welcome families interested in our school.

Tours last 30-40 minutes and are best access by adults only.  You will get an opportunity view the classrooms firsthand, see our wonderful outdoor natural playscape and meet some of our wonderful teachers. Montessori schools all share a common philosophy and materials, but each school is unique. First-hand observation is invaluable in making the decision about the right school for your child.

Waiting List

If you decide that Harmony Montessori is the right fit for your child and your family then you will choose from 3 options for enrollment: Tuition-Based, Preschool For All or Preschool Promise.  Harmony reserves a set number of seats for each of these enrollment options and there are different processes for each, please see below.

  • Tuition-Based Enrollment:  Tuition cost can be found on our Tuition page here.  We also accept Employment Related Day Care (ERDC).  Click here for information and to see if your family qualifies.
  • Preschool Promise: This program fully covers the cost for lower income families to access quality education for children ages 3-4, 5 days a week from 8:30 – 3:00. To apply, go to Early Learning Multnomah to create a new account and apply for the program. Applications are available in Spanish and additional languages. Be sure to upload all the necessary documentation requested and you can select your first choice of school. If you know of anyone please feel free to have them contact us and we can support them with the application process.
  • Preschool For All: The application for Preschool for All for the 2024-25 school year is open until the end of April. You can find more information on their website regarding this program!  Families need to live in Multnomah County and children need to be 3-4 before September 1, 2024 to qualify.  Additionally, Preschool For All chooses all placements via their program at Harmony.

To join our waiting list, families will complete an application for each child enrolling.  This application will be shared after a tour is completed and can be accessed online. After you complete the application we will receive notification and will invoice you for the application fee ($150) and tuition deposit ($500). Both are non-refundable.  Waiting list placement is only offered to tuition-based enrollment. If your child is choosing Preschool For All or Preschool Promise as enrollment options, you do not need to join our waiting list.  Please see bour Tuition Assistance Page for more information on each program.

If you will be using Employment Related Day Care (ERDC) to pay for your child’s tuition, please let us know and we will make individual arrangements.  ERDC will cover the cost for the application fee. The tuition deposit is optional, yet can act as a buffer in case ERDC benefits lapse.

  • If ERDC funds end, you are responsible for tuition, which will be clearly outlined in your tuition agreement upon enrollment.  The $500 can be used to cover tuition as needed.
  • If ERDC benefits do not end, your tuition deposit will be returned to you at the end of your child’s enrollment at Harmony.
  • Payment plans are available for the tuition deposit!

Enrollment

Most enrollments happen in October through May, for the following fall. Our waiting list begins on October 1st for the following school year. We can accommodate mid-year enrollments if we have an opening, or whenever our numbers shift. When our classes fill up, we establish a waiting list because unexpected withdrawals do happen.
