Harmony Parents at our Fall Work Day

Harmony Parents at our Fall Work Day

Harmony encourages parent involvement. Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and our intention is to enhance your parenting experience. We also know that children and their whole families benefit when parents are involved in their children’s education.

Volunteering at Harmony can happen in many different forms: helping with various committees, providing classroom support, running errands, regular snack or milk shopping, sharing hobbies or special experiences with the children, fundraising, and serving on the Board are just some of the possibilities.

We have an active Parents’ Association, with committees for areas like social events, fundraising, and classroom support. To encourage the growth of friendships and mutual support among our families, the PA offers regular parent and family events throughout the year, ranging from Mom’s Night Out to shared recreational events.

We also foster community and relationships between families and staff through events such as our twice a year Oxbow campout & picnic, our Harvest Festival, Winter Solstice Celebration, Harmony Auction, Spring Festival and Kindergarten Graduation.

Harmony Montessori is also committed to giving back to the SE community that we serve by volunteering for OBP Membership drives, feeding the homeless through Human Solutions and Portland Homeless Family Solutions, donating clothing and sponsoring families during the holidays through SnowCap, and a book donation drive for The Children’s Book Bank.

In the professional Montessori community, Harmony is an active member of the Oregon Montessori Association. We are certified annually by the State of Oregon’s Childcare Division (CCD).

Harmony is a public benefit, non-profit corporation, with federal non-profit 501(c)(3) status, and a dedicated Board of Trustees. All donations to Harmony are tax-deductible.
